Physical Education Class

In this Physical Education class students will be learning a variety of different aspects related to everyday physical activity. This class will encourage them to become and maintain the lifestyle of being a lifelong mover.  Physical activity is a proven link to leading a happier, healthier, longer, and successful life.

Participation in Physical Activity

Student are expected to walk into class with the right attitude and the understanding that 100% participation is required each day.  This doesn't mean students are all expected to be on the same skill or physical level, but it does mean they each will give THEIR top effort which will be differently than the person standing next to them.  Students are given the best possible chance to succeed in this class, especially when all that is asked of them is to participate to their highest abilities.

Participation is a graded category in this Physical Education class, meaning if students aren't willing to put forth the effort necessary on a consistent basis their grades will begin to suffer.  Participation is 40% of the overall grade.

Responsibility as a Student

Responsibility is a quality that all students are expected to have, not just in PE, not just in school, but outside of school as well.  Students in my class, have a responsibility to remember to bring their uniforms, be on time, keep their lockers locked, complete their make-up work if absent, and BE RESPECTFUL. These aspects of responsibility are very simple and occur everyday in PE class.

Responsibility is a graded category in this Physical Education class, meaning if they aren't being responsible by following all of these expectations their grades will begin to suffer.  Responsibility is 40% of the overall grade.

Tests and Quizzes

Tests and quizzes are implemented into the Physical Education curriculum, usually concluding a sport unit or fitness concept, which occurs about every two weeks.  Students are tested on the specific unit or fitness concept they have been receiving instruction on and participating in during Physical Education class.

Tests and quizzes are valuable to the teacher and student because it allows for students to be graded on their content knowledge, which is something different than just their physical abilities.  Study guides can be found here.

Tests and quizzes are graded categories in this Physical Education class and make up the final 20% of the overall grade.
